"The animals need you" + MEET CLARA

Not long after a segment showcasing Lost and Hound’s donation of 70 toys to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) aired on Fox 6 News, I got an email from a stranger at the time named Sarah.

“Hi Britney, I would love to make a donation to Lost and Hound… I received some birthday money and I can’t think of anything better to use it for,” she said. “My mom founded our local humane society back in the early sixties so animal rescue has always been a part of my life. I love your story and your passion and I just want to help you.”

Sarah signed the letter, “Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself. The animals need you.”

A few days later, a check arrived in the mail. I hardly had the right words to thank her, I was so humbled.

Starting a business is a risk and it’s not always easy. There has been doubt, a few bumps and a lot of late nights – but it’s also been one of the most rewarding experiences so far and I couldn’t be happier that I began this journey of helping our most loyal companions.

Thank you all for being such amazing supporters and thank you, Sarah, for your generous donation and for your enthusiasm in Lost and Hound. Because of you, handfuls of additional toys will be donated!

In honor of Ann Fredricks, Sarah’s mother and one of the founders of the Sheboygan County Humane Society (SCHS), Lost & Hound would like to feature Clara as a Lost and Hound adoptable pet of the week.

Clara is a 3 ½ year old American Pit Bull Terrier Mix and has been up for adoption for almost a year at SCHS. Read Clara's story below...

"Clara's Story...

This pup with the beautiful coat is Clara. She's full of energy and loves to run in our fenced-in yards. Not only that though, she LOVES to play with all sorts of toys, but especially tennis balls. She will gladly sit or lay down upon request in order to receive her toys or food as a reward. She's not one to be overly clingy, yet enjoys being pet and massaged. In fact, she's done really well with handling. This girl has some intense tail wagging which helps to show just how joyous she is when she gets to play or go for a walk. The Mod Squad program has even used some special items to help this energetic beauty relax and de-stress with her long stay here at the shelter. She's done really well with some help from body wraps, aromatherapy, dim-lit rooms, and massage! And she's certainly become quite the avid cuddler because of it. We know that she would love a home where she can continue to receive this extra special affection and attention. She also does well with some dogs, more specifically those that are not of the same sex.

Please ask about this happy girl at our front desk! We'd be over joyed to answer any questions about her!

Primary Color: Brindle

Weight: 59.8
